Internships - SHS Students and College Students
Student Internship Programs (High School and College Students) Simsbury High School Intern Program - As a continuing collaboration with the new SHS "Career Center", the Simsbury Chamber Education Committee and high school have launched a student internship program. Junior and Senior students now have the opportunity apply for student internships with local member companies. Students will be directed to go the Simsbury Chamber website or printed directory to identify a chamber member business that they would like to intern with. Once a business has been identified and before a student can be matched with a business, they will be required to fill out a "Student Internship Application" that will include the reasons why they want to intern with a particular company as well as their hours and days of availability. The SHS Career Center will then review and screen student requests to see if these students have the time and grades to add a possible internship to their curriculum and are good candidates for the program. A student's resume and parent signature are also required before a student can be accepted into the program. Once approved by SHS, the application and resume would be forwarded to the Chamber office to assist in matching the student with an interested business. If a Chamber member business is interested in working with a student intern, it would then be up to the student and business to arrange scheduling.
