Executive Director Charity Folk and the Simsbury Chamber of Commerce received the 2009 "Outstanding Chamber Award" from the Chamber Benefits Center Leadership Cabinet at the Fifth Annual Leadership Cabinet Awards luncheon held in November 2009 at the Crown Plaza in Cromwell, CT.
The annual "Outstanding Chamber Award" is given to a chamber of commerce in the State of Connecticut that demonstrates a leadership role through their staff, board of directors and plan of action in promoting its membership, providing innovative programs and initiatives and presenting a favorable image for the business community.
Ms. Folk was commended for her leadership talents in helping to reorganize the Hartford Region Chambers Benefit Center over the last five years and taking a leadership role when representing her fellow chamber executives in the MetroHartford region.
The Hartford region is comprised of 35 towns represented by 26 Chambers of Commerce promoting their businesses, services and products. These 26 Chambers of Commerce meet on a regular basis through the Chambers Benefit Center to discuss ways to promote the region and to find ways to provide their membership with affordable insurance products for the small and mid-size business as well as other products and services that help improve the business climate.
The Chambers Benefit Center Leadership Cabinet is comprised of regional chamber representatives from Greater Bristol, Central Connecticut, MetroHartford, North Fairfield, Middlesex, South Central CT, Greater Norwalk, Northwest Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut, the Affiliated Chambers of Greater Springfield, Mass and the Chamber Insurance Trust.
The Chamber Insurance Trust (CIT) is a voluntary alliance of all participating Chambers of Commerce across Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. Created to bring the combined buying power of thousands of Chamber members, CIT's complete range of insurance options offer small, mid-sized and large businesses competitively priced benefit packages. From its inception in 1992, CIT serves more than 10,000 businesses from the Chambers of Commerce in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
